Every now and again I come across a particularly nice piece of prose. And since I've been moved lately (especially by Kalidore) to sit up and take notice of these particularly nice bits so I can, in turn, improve my own writing - I figured I'd make a happy little thread here to share them with the rest of you. That and have a little place if anyone ELSE has any particular turns of phrase they care to share. Snow, tenderly caught by eddying breezes, swirled and spun into and out of bright, lustrous shapes that gleamed against the emerald-blazoned black drape of sky and sparkled there for a momment, hanging, before settling gently to the soft, green tufted plain with all the sickly sweetness of an over-written sentence. I particularly like the visuals - and the obvious tongue-in-cheek of the thing, as it is also the opening line of the book. Hehe. Wonder how many times he rewrote THAT one, eh?
