I am probably really slow and y'all find this old news, but have you checked out this thread? www1.flightrising.com/forums/gde/1040710Am I reading it right? Is he saying you change out the meditate stone and put in scratch?

Hmm. I do have a tundra I planned only to train and exalt. I could experiment and see what happens. I'm still trying to understand all this coli-lingo XD There really needs to be a dummy's guide to questing >.> Or even a "Do this, because this", and what-the-heck with all those stat charts? Or maybe it's simply because of my less-than-zero-gaming experience that I am simply oblivious to the things that are second-nature to anyone who games. "It's only slightly more difficult than Pokemon!" I have no idea how to play pokemon, so I don't know if that means it's simple or really hard XD For instance, I've been following this training thread on one of the model-horse boards I'm on, talking about building a team: Let's see... there are a couple of Imperials out there for sale, statted and stoned, at 400k apiece. (I think the person asking 3.5 mil is probably a liiiiiiiiiittle optimistic.) So... let's do the math, assuming worst case scenario for moves already known:
Dragon: 8k Berserkers: 7.5k each x 3 = 22.5k Ambushes: 35k each x 2 = 70k Tincture: 28k (if needed- I ended up having to tincture the ones I raised before- not sure if I'll still have to if I don't do any stat changes until 25) Scratch: 1k Shred: 5k Eliminate: 60k
TOTAL: 194.5k
So that leaves cost of training at 205.5k. Seems fairly reasonable to me... Now let's look at my inventory. 3 Scratch, 3 Shred, 5 Eliminate, 13 Berserker, 10 Ambush. I want to train a pair of exalt trainers (I currently have three farmers) and a healer for the Golem Workshop for myself. So I'll need 2 Scratch, 2 Shred, 2 Eliminate, 6 Berserker, 4 Ambush for the two trainers. Plus 3 Scholar, 2 Ambush, a tier 3 elemental attack, Aid (11k), and Rally for the mage.
Left after that: 1 Scratch (buy 1), 1 Shred (buy 1), 3 Eliminate, 7 Berserker, 4 Ambush = 2 sale dragons worth of stones, essentially.Nice! Sounds like you've got it all squared away.
I want to train up a new Coli team now that I know what I'm doing, haha. At least a new healer - my girl is pathetically slow, although her Breath regeneration is really fast.
I'm thinking of selling or exalting her anyway, so now's the time... guess I should grab a caster-type and drag 'em through the Mire a few times behind my sweepers. xDCulex says they're going to be coming out with a new Mire build with which a single dragon could level two exalt fodder at once. Huh. Maybe I'll hold off on the two exalt trainers, then, since I mostly use the Mire for that anyway. Wow. o.O I have a pair of pseudo-sweepers. If that really works, I might have to Tincture and rebuild one of them. The Culex guide is extremely thorough and straightforward. I recommend it for anyone interested in making a Coli team for farming or exalt training:
www1.flightrising.com/forums/gde/1040710
There used to be a Mire build like that, but the arrival of the boss toads screwed it up. They're trying to figure out how to fix it.
Oh, and there's a healer build in there for the golem workshop, so your girl is probably fixable with a tincture, if you feel like it..... which brings us back where we started, staring at the guide and going, am I REALLY supposed to remove the Meditate Stone? XD XD XD And so many more questions! Like, what's a Mire, a Sweeper, Healer, etc... and is the idea that you can build up a few dragons to 25, then take an untrained one, throw it in there with them, and as the third dragon in the posse it gains all this experience really fast without actually having to do anything? Is that right? I am SO CONFUSED.

The thread reference there at the end is the same one I posted. Isn't the Mire a colosseum venue? Sweeper and Healer I don't know. Farmers are addressed in that thread. If I understood correctly, they are intended to be really good at getting the monsters to drop good stuff. Somehow. Via stats. I don't really understand that. He even recommends which venues for "farming." *shrug* I have a pearlcatcher on which I replaced the Meditate stone. Basically it means he gains breath more slowly, but everyone does damage with each successful strike. Following the dude's instructions I have finally breezed through levels 4-6. I actually own a level 7 dragon! I took her off the team so I could more quickly build up a couple of more, and then on to level 7-8. Before, I was doing good to get through ONE battle on 4-6 without loosing everyone. Now, I am actually getting the Victory Chain going! That could have as much or more to do with actually applying the stats points instead of leaving them sit :blushes Is it bad that I hadn't even noticed I had them to apply? I blame the fact that I am not a gamer either. Edit: the Mire, level 23-24

Applying level points definitely help XD
I did skim that page a couple weeks ago, and got my one team to 13 by just levelling the strength/or intelligence as per dragon as suggested, minoring in agility and quickness. They are definitely amazingly powerful compared to earlier dragons I'd levelled more evenly, so have been doing that with everyone since, so that's why most of my dragons are sitting at level seven. Although when they get hit, they do get hit hard (so putting left-over stats into vitality isn't a bad option either). But there are several monsters I can take down in one or two strikes ...jackalopes are not one of them... still need four-to-six stupid strikes, haha)
Adding their elemental battle stone helps immensely too - and you can often find them in auction cheaper then in the marketplace. I picked up a handful of arcane bolts and slashes the other day for less than 2K a piece. Check daily!
Also, knowing the element wheel helps a bit (ie, which element is stronger/weaker than the other). Although my fighting style tends to be "kill the thing that will kill me the fastest" then move onto the next, in descending order. But it helps with saving your elemental bolts for the enemy they'll do most damage on, if you can afford to wait their turn.
Hmm! Interesting about the scratch vs meditate! Nice to get EVERYONE hitting something, at least once XD But I can definitely see how it's slower, too... plus I just made that pretty rainbow meditation stone for someone, dang it! XD
And yes, all that jargon... NO IDEA WHAT THEY MEAN >.> I feel so newb XD

I tend to pair my low level ones with two higher levels to help them get up to at least 4 or 5, then I switch. Also, three new ones in the clan. I'm keeping one, but if anyone wants either of the others, y'all are welcome to them!

GAH. Why is it when I go looking in the auction house for something VERY SPESIFIC, I come back with something completely opposite? *facepalms* But lookit, what a pretty pretty boy is he - *facepalms again* *puts 'lair expansion' back on the agenda*Also, I just scored one of those "eliminate" stones in the coliseum. Now I have no idea who to put it on...

Anyone want Tundras? I wanted spirals! XD Middle one is a Midnight XXY; the daub gene is really cool on the other black one too. And the little purple girl has today's exalt bonus colour so I am tempted but she's the prettiest of the bunch - I just needed a spiral, not a tundra. Sigh >.>

Hmm... how to other people link all the pictures? Surely they're not saving off-site to post them? For familiar extras, I have: dryad autumn dryad storm seeker ember mouse basilisk shadow serpent wildwood owl bamboo pyhtocat janustrap Ooo... I've never got a familiar out of a chest yet. Did find a couple in the plunder pile though

This is the first time I remember getting them from a chest.
I might want a couple of those. I'm at work right now, when I get home, I'll go through mine and see if there's something you might want
Darned phone didn't want to let me edit. I got the chests from a couple of familiars I finally got past inquisitive. Gah that takes flipping forever

Would love the autumn dryad. My extras right now are an Emerald Cave Jewel and a Stardust Scholar. I am guessing you probably have both of those... OH! And I was rather excited this morning. I was actually able to trade with Swipp! Twice! Iron and Copper ores for silver. PLUS, I had enough Iron ore left over that I was able to sell a bundle at auction! First time I've sold something besides a dragon.

I sent the autumn Dryad, geob. I think >.> Let me know if that worked!
I know I have the scholar, not sure about the cave squirrel... is there a fast way to tell what familiars you allready have without clicking through your dragons one by one or flipping through endless blank pages in the bestiary?

My leveling team (when I was doing it) is actually mostly fae because I love them the mostest. Having 3 magic users there was .... traumatizing, so I actually did overwrite at least one of their meditates.
I usually have 1 melee (scratch etc), 1 magic (gust etc.) and 1 healer (no damage spells) - and that gets me through fairly well.

For kicks and giggles, I tried a 3-mage team once... got to level 7 and said to hell with it >.>
How long does it take to generate a blast then, using Scratch as breath? because it seems to take scratchy dragons two or three strikes to get to the bleeding move, and at least another scratch to get up to their elemental slash. That takes SO long - how are dragons supposed to "sweep" the enemy in two strikes like they talk about? (I've only ever found one Eliminate stone, and am saving it until I have a trained dragon that is good enough >.>)
What stones does a healer need, and how does that work? And I keep searching the Marketplace for Scratch stones without luck; I saw a bunch once and wondered why you would need them, since dragons came with that >.> Now I know!
My original high-stat fighers are at level 13; level 13/14 in the coliseum is HARD. Is it bad I've had better luck jumping up to the level 15 venue? >.> However these guys were also leveled before I knew where to put them, so they're low on Quickness, which means I'm there waiting through six enemy strikes before I can make a move - not fun! But it also DOES help having stats in the "damage buffering zone" because these guys can take a volley of hits without loosing too much strength. If only they had a bit more firepower themselves. Ah, live and learn!
ETA: Sam, you still haven't told me what familiars you need XD

Yeah, it takes several scratches to get the breath for anything else, but with the Eliminate once you get the breath you can maintain it as long as you, well, eliminate with your strike. I ended up using gems (left over from my glimmer purchase) to get my Eliminate stones. <.< Kinda feels like cheating. Anyway, once you have your breath built, you hit with a scratch and the next guy eliminates unless you know you have the strength to knock them out with one Eliminate strike. That's where that Duke's guide comes in handy, because he tells you that. He also says those wolves in Bamboo Falls (13-14) will kill you anyway, at least when there are four of them; and recommends moving on once you get to 14. So far, I haven't encountered those wolves. Thinking I may back out without ever tackling them if I DO get them! I am feeling accomplished with THREE dragons at level 13 Sad, but true.

My dragons are still stuck at 9. XD Mostly because I'm lazy.
