Who's Line is it Anyways? Kwan-Li ~ Daughter of Tradition's HoldTo some Unicorns, the traditions of the old tales are never lost, but grow richer with each re-telling. The graceful Kwan-Li is a master of the re-telling, and brings these wonderful old traditions to life for the new generation. She believes that by knowing your past, you can build upon that keen wisdom to create a happy and lasting future... [/i] As a wise man once shouted at the top of his lungs, "TRADITION!"; another wise(r) unicorn once said that the best traditions are often the ones we begin right now <3 Kwan-Li is not only a keeper of traditions, she has a hand in making them, especially when it comes to a good tale: Kwan-Li loves to wander Kalidore and beyond, searching for new stories to bring home and share with everyone. Today we're all going to help Kwan-Li create a new tale for Rhaine's Library. She will begin, but then she's looking for you to find out just what happens next! The tale can be informative, silly, melodramatic, spooky, romantic, tragic - or just whatever seems to fit best; at the very least we know it's going to be EPIC! [red]The Rules:[/red]1. Help Kwan-Li with her new story by adding to the tale. 2. Your response should be a couple lines to a paragraph in length. 3. You must wait until three other people have posted before you can post again. Otherwise, there is no limit on posting! As this is not an RP you may use any Kalidore characters (such as The Daiga, Foundation Stallions or any of Lady Whimsy's characters for instance) or feel free to create some of your own. However - don't clutter the story with new characters if they're not truly needed, try to work with what's there. Don't hog the "plot" either - remember the "point" of the story can change at a whim (or next post) so do go with the flow! [green]The Prize:[/green] Each storychain post will count as one raffle ticket; at the end of the event, we will put all the tickets into random to choose our winner - who will get to take Kwan-Li home! [yellow]All entries must be received by Midnight Wednesday, May 16th to count. Best of luck to all - and HAVE FUN![/yellow]

I was newly arrived on Kalidore when it happened, so new I did not yet have a unicorn companion (which I'm sure would have been handy, if for no other reason then to have things explained to me). But that was not as fate would have it; instead I was alone as I left the temple Library with a basket of Lana's hot biscuits under my arm and small scroll tucked in my pocket, which I was supposed to bring to Liliani.
I had been strolling merrily along the path that wound through the beautiful Kaledon Forest when something caught my eye, just beyond the trees. I suppose I shouldn't have left the path; in retrospect that seems so much clearer. But, I was newly arrived as I mentioned before, so curiously about this new place won out, and I found myself slipping from the path and through a thicket to satisfy that childish folly.
As I came through the thicket the woods opened into a clearing. The air was still, cool, hushed, and there, standing in the centre of the field and staring squarely at me was --
AND YOU MAY BEGIN!

-- a deer-like creature wearing a red hat. Really. A red hat.
"Well, hello. What a lovely hat you have," I greeted. Unicorns here talk, didn't that mean ALL the creatures around here did? It seemed reasonable to me at the time.
The creature just looked at me and cocked its head before --

--It SPOKE! That's right. It spoke to me in that special way creatures here in Kalidore have. In my mind I heard a soft, almost melodic voice asking me what it was I carried.
Well, I was so shocked that my flippant expectation that the red hat wearing deer would speak like the unicorns that I promptly found myself without a voice or a brain.. or so it seemed until ---

....that curious hat wearing deer came over and snatched the scroll right out of my pocket! Startled I fumbled with the biscuits, " Hey wait! You cant take that!" The deer simply giggled, turning promptly to bound off into the woods. Gathering my composure I---

took a deep breath and ran after it! The deer was easy to follow with that bright red hat giving it away in a flash of color every time the critter moved! Suddenly the red hat stopped moving so I crept up on it and ---
