Physical Appearance & Apparel: Iole is a young woman (or girl) with an open face and a small smirk always upon her soft pink lips. Her form and build is slight, height at 5'4 currently. She weighs little, light as a feather, but still growing. Small brown birthmarks dot her right cheek against her pale skin. A long nose sits smack above her lips, insignificant compared to her stunning eyes of dark gold, almost brown. Long black eyelashes frame her eyes, drawing you into them and away from some of her hopefully covered up acne problems when they do pop up every now and then. A playful light is apparent in her eyes and the way she moves, elgence except when you find her trying any sports games that have to do with a ball. Iole thinks basketball, baseball, etc. are extremely boring and is a little afraid of the ball even if she won't admit it. Locks of straight dark dark chocolate brown hair frame her face down to about a few inches above her waist, turning a lighter golden-brown in the light of summer and almost black when wet. Fingernails are short and often choppy looking due to a habit of biting her nails every so often and so hands are kept hidden away in flowing long sleeves. Muscular legs due to dancing practice and simply genes show in shorts, some pants, skirts, and dresses. (Unless they are too long.) Little bits of jewelry don't hurt a bit, put a bit of sparkle to her looks.

Skills & Abilities: Iole is a skilled dancer, elgent and beautiful in her movements while tough and flexible. She is a smart girl, not the smartest, but smart. She has a talent for being creative and is great with writing stories if she has a good idea. She's very wild when it comes to fighting, tough in the face of danger. Comes from simple instinct and having an annoying little brother. She is the kind of person who crys if it gets her somewhere and just as easily smiles innocently. Can be quite an actress when it comes to teasing boys or pretending to be hurt. Sarcasm? Her friend. Iole loves to lead but can be a little bossy when it comes to that. Making others laugh? Iole trys and usually succeds. She is a fiercly independant person at times, able to handle herself and happy to curl up in a corner and simply read a good book. Iole loves to read, a lot. Get's her away from the troubling and boring world.

Personality Strengths & Weakness: Iole is a smart girl who's mood changes as it suits her from being a teaser to a kind, loving person. She really does mean best and doesn't try too hard to be mean but she does like to have fun and play around with others, messing with them and such. She can come off as a bit rude and vain but she isn't. Well, most of the time. Her conscience keeps her in-check! She easily gets bored and when this happens she goes off into her own little world where her mind works overtime, creating little stories and characters, only in body present. She adores most animals (especially cats, horses, and of course unicorns.) and loves to read! Iole hates supposedly "oh, so popular and pretty"girls and boys who think "they are so cool." Most people learn to deal with her and like her but not everybody including punks, etc Iole doesn't like loud annoying laughter or people talking a lot when she's trying to take a test or read. Makes her want to "tape their mouths shut." Has quite the little temper there. "Popular" girls make her mad the very most and she does her best to stand up for herself and others. She can seem cruel at times, that's just Iole. Deal with it! She hates how the world is so evil and wishes everyone could just get along! No more bloody wars and scary horror movies, people are always going to be different! She sees sometimes that fighting is necessary but if people didn't do wrong things in the first place it wouldn't have happened. Iole is deathly afraid of spiders and some bugs but is working her way up to crushing them underneath her shoes and building up confidence. This comes from a few bad experiences such as having a spider almost crawl up one of her nostrils. Avoiding spiders helps. Iole is caclulating and sly, searching for weaknesses and noting down strengths when she feels threatened. A very cautious girl at times, she is almost always prepared. Sure, Iolie is spoiled at times and sort of rich but her parents have made sure she is prepared for real life and fiercly independant Iole thinks she is pretty much ready for it!

Relationships: None, really though she has begun to develop a bond with her companion, Marama, as time goes and hopefully become friends with other humans, and unicorns and other animals, on Kalidore.
Family- Mother, Darcy. Father, Kyle. Brother-Takuya. (As you have noticed her parents have named her sibling and Iole herself interesting names.)

Character History -
Where on earth is your companion from? Arizona in the United States of America. (Used to be from California.)
What era is your your companion from? Present day.
What first brought her and her unicorn together? You will see. *Wink*

Back Story: Iole was born in a small town in the southern part of California, near the coast. She grew up in a place full of sunshine and warmth and sandy beaches, a place she thought she never wanted to leave. California to her was the best state ever in the whole United States and while trips were find she wanted to live there, forever. Then her brother and her learned from their mother that she had gotten a new job in nearby Arizona and they were leaving there. She would be working a lot and wouldn't be able to spend much time home so they would pretty much go to school, come home and be alone for a few hours, and then be with their dad until night came and they were already getting ready to go to bed. Their dad was hired and then worked as a chef for a local cafe in their new town while Darcy was busy becoming a wealthy businesswomen in a big building nearby. They didn't get to seem much of her indeed and this hurt inside, they missed their mother but never complained. They got a big source of income now, wealthy, and birthdays were always extravagent. But Iole always knew that Arizona was only a little bit like California and she still missed her friends and family back there. It was sad. Dancing and her imagination helps take away the pain and she slowly tries to settle in more to her new town. On the good side, still living in her happy country of America where voting rights stand and women can live free!

Whew ~ great start, Leopardstar... looks like you've been working hard on this! I will go through everything bit by bit, to help you flesh out Iole to the best she possibly can be

...though I have to start off saying every time I see her name, my brain screams "Miami Vice!" Sorry XD (you know... eye-oh-lee, my-am-mee.... Vice... >.>...) Okay maybe that's just me... moving along...

Physical Appearance & Apparel: It looks like you have her description down pat, though there are two things I might suggest.

The first is while it's great to have tonnes of description, I'm almost feeling like some of the important details are getting lost amongst all of it? It's always best to stick to the clinical basics in an rp character profile (for the ease of those reading up on her!) and leave the descriptive writing for when you're actually writing her A bit of proof-reading should fix that, I think.

The second is common one I always warn about - to describe a character as "very beautiful" or "prettier then most", since beauty is in the eye of the beholder It's fine and proper to say "she's attractive by that time/place/culture's standard", but there's no need to embellish it into every one of her features - let the other characters make the decision for themselves, by virtue of the way you present her in your writing.


Skills & Abilities: There's one thing that catches my eye right off the bat. In her description you say "Iole has terrible hand-eye coordination" and describe her as having no athletic ability, yet you start off here by saying "Iole is a skilled dancer". The two statements are contradictory, don't you think, as one requires A LOT of hand-eye coordination (not to mention rhythm) and plenty of athleticism to be a skilled dancer! While perhaps she can't catch a baseball because she's just never practiced, it would unnatural to believe she is terrible at sports, because a trained body is just that - trained and ready, for whatever you apply it to. You also say "She's very wild when it comes to fighting" which also seems to suggest she might have hand-eye coordination here too (also, where did she train? where did she develop this ability?) You'll really need to decide which part of that ability/or lack of ability/ fits Iole's character the best

I'm also a little confused by this line: "Can be quite an actress when it comes to "play-sleeping" and such." What does that mean? Where and when does she need to play asleep?


Personality Strengths & Weakness: I'm delighted to see you've assigned Iole bad traits as well as good ones, because this always creates a more balanced and believable character There's just a few points I'd like clarification on ~

"Call her names and she'll either ignore you or beat you up! Most people learn to deal with her and like her but not everybody including really annoying boys." A common mistake in RP characters is to try and decide how other characters will react to your character, because each character you meet will bring something new into the situation, and while it looks like you've tried to address that here, I will point out that character who goes around beating up other people is probably not going to be liked much at all, lol. And no, this isn't a bad thing, either! Just something to be aware of, that the actions of your character will always affect the opinions of those around them, quite possibly in ways you didn't expect

I also tend to disagree with this statement: "She can seem cruel at times but Iole is almost anything but cruel." I disagree because you've described her several times a person who will do what she needs to do, to have her way, as she sees fit, regardless of others. Then there's that whole beating-you-up thing, lol. First of all, I want to say: IT'S OKAY TO HAVE A MEAN CHARACTER ;D Too often everyone tries to create someone who's nice and balanced, and in truth, this is pretty unrealistic. So if you're creating a character who has a lot of nastier tendencies, that's okay! But own those tendencies - don't try to write them off by saying "they don't really mean it" or "they're only mean when they have to be". Because sometimes we are mean and mean it, and sometimes we are mean just because we want to be. While she might feel bad about it after, it looks to me that Iole has too much fun being a brat to truly worry about the bigger picture or changing her ways - at least for now...


Character History & and Backstory: Everything looks good here, but I am a little bothered by your last line: "On the good side, still in America!" What does this mean? That any place outside America isn't good? o.O With a belief like that, I can foresee a LOT of trouble for her when she winds up on Kalidore, lol...


So I think that's everything. If Del sees anything to add she will, but like I said, off to a great start! Just think about the points I mentioned, and try reworking where you see fit. On the whole, I think you're well on your way to coming to Kalidore!

Thank you! I'll edit and note down somethings here...Oh, and the name thing. XD Iole just seemed to jump out of me from the list of names I was looking at...Violet is a very pretty color.

I'll try and pick out the most important pieces there....Going to be hard for me though since I'm used to trying to add more in instead of taking little bits out! And as for the beauty thing I see...Shall fix some of that!

And I based her a bit a little off of me so when I say terrible hand-eye coordination I'm just repeating what my mom says. XD You see I dance (not as good as Iole I'm sure...) but I suck at most sports that have to do with a ball, So...yeah. Sports including soccer and baseball=boring and fail. So, yes to athleticism and probably hand-eye too. (A lot of people have noticed due to my dance training that I sit really straight and tall and set my shoulders all straight and such. Just a thought so I can remember it in the future.) And as for the fighting she simply reacts on instinct, biting kicking, looking for vulenrabilities. And a little help from her little brother won't hurt either. As for "play-sleeping" it means acting to supposedly be asleep. I see what you mean that she probably won't use it though....XD

I tried to put bad traits in there along with good ones...everyong has something bad about them! And...good point. She doesn't beat everyone up! In fact she only beats up bullys inclduing mean popular girl. And I was trying to make her less cruel, more nice. But still trying to make her sly and evil-ish. Very hard I think....She's a nasty trickster at time that one. *Grins.*

And no, she doesn't think that anywhere out side America is bad....just not as good. To her America had about almost everything! Techonology, good education, the right laws, etc. Sure, everywhere there is tons of misfortune and evil but to her, the United States is the best. Both free with nature and bustling cities.

Name: Marama (MARAMA: Polynesian myth name of a moon goddess, meaning "moon.")
Daughter of Silence
Shhhhh....can you hear it? If not be silent for in this silence there exists a realm of peace. Take a soft breath, not too loud, and listen to all that surrounds you and feel the serenity that is there. Marama always knew that this realm existed and always kept a hoof in it knowing the beauty of silence and all that could be seen and heard if you yourself just kept quiet. It is a peace that can fill you with a special joy and let the soothingness of it allow you to relax. In this silence alone the dark mare is unmatched, a being of quiet, no more than a shadow among the stillness as she listens, watches, and learns. Marama is quick to silence those who would rudely make loud, annoying sounds with a quick look of her clear blue eyes. While sound is good sometimes it is best to be silent...and listen.

Skills & Abilities: Marama is a silent, at times forbidding soul who can make not a single noise if so she wished it. The mare has long ago developed a high sense of sound due to listening and being quiet so often, living alone by herself with just the wildlife and the occasional traveler to keep company. Because of this she is quite used to caring for herself.

Personality Strengths & Weakness: Marama is quite patient and thoughtful and not one to charge straight into things headfirst without careful plan and thought. She can patiently wait for hours if needed and knows her manners, trying to be polite, but being alone so often has caused the mare to be a little forgetful of other's feelings and presence along with using those said manners. The foundantion mare is often silent and prefers things that way, loud noises make her very annoyed if given without thought and she dislikes being pestered very much. Marama is actually a very merry and peaceful mare once you get past the outer, hard, silent shell that surrounds her life. She only wishes the best for others (and herself) and will do what she thinks is right to get what is needed done. If that means being a little caluclating and cold she'll do it, that does not mean she enjoys it or is as good at such things as her companion, Iole. Marama is more comfortable by herself, or just Iole, as more of a loner than a friendly unicorn constantly seeking companionship.

Relationships: Marama has always kept mostly to herself, staying silently away in the background like a shadow. Still, she finds her way to get the news around Kalidore and occasionally sees some other creature whom would chat with her. Iole is her companion (though currently both of them have no knowledge of this) and such her friend, forever.

Back Story: Marama is a foundation mare, daughter of the first two unicorns, and she was born sometime following the war when peace, stillness, and silence felt new. She had been young then, curious and eager to explore the wonders of Kalidore, the wonders that drew her in and refused to give her up. She soon tired of most of this searching, but never of her wandering, finding peace and comfort by herself. She never looked for companions, she much rather have just the trees and wildlife about her. But a companion will call and sometimes you just can't resist somethings.

Ah, yes some more specific questions. What I meant to say was is there anything special I need to add because she is a foundation mare? Becuase I did notice that on this page each of the mares say Daughter of ____. And some have a little info on them. Also, because foundation mares are first-generation mares that can be called considerably older than most, or not? Those are my two questions.

If you would like to, you may certainly give her a title & short blurb about her. I was doing that for each of the foundation mares until the RPing aspect of Kalidore really took off, then it just made more sense for the owners to create those write-ups instead of I

As for age, Kal is still having children, so a Foundation isn't necessarily older then most unikore, but some certainly can be. The biggest distinction would be those who were born pre-war - such as Odin, Mare Imbrium, Gypsy, etc, and thus experienced the Great War first-hand - and those who were post-war babies (like Muse, Arieon, and generally the others). Unless you are very well-versed in Kalidore lore and intend to put a lot of attention and research into it, I recommend creating unicorn characters as post-war unicorns. So, age really, is up to you!

Looks good to me The only thing I might point out is that unicorns are generally not as emotionally complex or motivated as humans (so being "sly and tricky" are slightly more human attributes). Its not to say you won't come across a clever or calculating unicorn (as this certainly isn't the case!), more that these traits wouldn't wouldn't be qualified in such terms.

However, it should also be pointed out that the longer a unicorn is in human company/ with their companion, a lot of these "human traits" start to rub off on them. So, after spending enough time with Iole, it would make perfect sense that Marama may develop some more devious attributes herself! ;D
